Welcome to my first blog post and thank you for joining me on my teacher journey! I am a level 3 intern, starting my senior year off by finishing out my pre-service internship in 2nd grade, while taking three summer classes. Tomorrow I will be at 123 Elementary teaching a social studies lesson about maps and a writing lesson about conventions. I have created the social studies lesson in my Instructional Planning class I took last spring. (I will post my lesson plan down below, tomorrow is day 2 of my lesson). I love how being a resident I can see real connections between my classes at USF and the 2nd grade classroom. One of my summer classes is Teaching Elementary Writing. For that class we are reading an amazing book called 6+1 Traits of Writing. I am using lesson ideas from this book tomorrow to teach a group of students conventions, specially punctuation and capitalization. I picked to teach these students by assessing their writing portfolios and seeing what I need to teach them to develop their writing. Down below I will post pages from the text that give the ideas I am using in my class tomorrow. I am beyond excited to teach a lesson I created and another one that I learned from my Teaching Elementary Writing class.
I am excited to see where my students will take our class with their new learnings tomorrow!
Wish me luck!
