I am thankful for my teacher journey for preparing me for the FTCE. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

123 Elementary held a door decorating contest the week before Thanksgiving break. My class created a school family dinner! On each plate students and teachers wrote what they are thankful for. This Thanksgiving break I was frontage to visit my family in West Virginia. During my time off from the classroom I went to the local library to student for the Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE). Once I got back to Florida, I took the 4 subject area exams and the professionalism test. I got a score report that I have PASSED! Yayay! Feels great to be a certified teacher in the state of Florida! :)

Growing up I remember experiencing "Career Day." Today, it is known as "The Great American Teach-In." Essentially, this is a day where people from the community come into elementary school classrooms nationwide to talk about what they do for a living and how children can grow up to be that profession. Yesterday we learned about an entrepreneur , a lineman who works for TECO, a social worker, USF medical students, and a female racAs a teacher, I learned that it is beneficial to give students a foldable, or some sort of graphic organizer to give them the tools to take notes and record takeaways of their experience during the presentations. e car driver. It was a great day to get my students thinking of what they want to do when they grow up.
I taught my first stEM lesson! Check it out under my STEM page. :) |
Junior Achievement of Tampa-Bay, | This week in 5th we had our first field trip of the year! It was to Junior Achievement's Biztown. JA Biztown is a town where 5th graders have a job for the whole day. I really like this type of field trip because my students had a purpose and specific task. They learned how to create and use a bank account, manage time, and how a town is only successful as a community. Before the children arrived, Melanie and I became trained volunteers for JA Biztown. After training we were assigned to a company to facilitate students working there. It was a great experience! |
