Growing up I remember experiencing "Career Day." Today, it is known as "The Great American Teach-In." Essentially, this is a day where people from the community come into elementary school classrooms nationwide to talk about what they do for a living and how children can grow up to be that profession. Yesterday we learned about an entrepreneur , a lineman who works for TECO, a social worker, USF medical students, and a female race car driver. It was a great day to get my students thinking of what they want to do when they grow up. As a teacher, I learned that it is beneficial to give students a foldable, or some sort of graphic organizer to give them the tools to take notes and record takeaways of their experience during the presentations.
Welcome to my teaching blog! This is my personal space where I reflect on my lessons, classroom data, and my classes at USF. Feel free to leave comments to help me become an exemplary teacher!
